Terms and conditions
BOOKING PROCEDURE, DEPOSIT, BOOKING FORM & TERMS - If you decide to book with us we will ask for you to complete our booking form and agree to these terms. Once you have done this we require you to secure your booking with a deposit of 25% within 24 hours, all payments are to be made by bank transfer, if payment is not received within this time we will make the reserved dates available again unless we have made other arrangements with you via email only. Once this payment is made it is non-refundable unless we need to cancel – please obtain travel insurance. Agreement of our terms is achieved by the completion of our booking form, in the rare event of a booking being agreed without the completion of our booking form then any payment made to us by you signifies your agreement to all of our terms. Bank transfers have no booking fee.
BALANCE PAYMENT -The balance of 75% is due 2 calendar months before your rental starts and must be paid within 5 working days after the due date. All payments are non-refundable once payment has been made unless we need to cancel – please obtain travel insurance.
SECURITY DEPOSIT – The security deposit is to be settled by bank transfer added to the balance payment. It is refunded in full within a week after you leave providing there is no damage to the property or furnishings. All extras must be paid in cash before you leave, the security deposit cannot be used to pay for extras. This will be refunded via bank transfer to the account of your choosing.
GITE CLEANING - We ask you to leave the accommodation in the condition you found it in or a cleaning charge will be made. If you wish you can leave the cleaning to us at a cost found on the tarif page.
THE SWIMMING POOL & PLAY AREA - The pool is 1m to 1.2m deep so there is a strict no diving policy. Children must be accompanied by an adult from their own family at all times whilst in the pool enclosure. The security gate must always be kept closed and never wedged open even if you are not holidaying with children yourself. These are strict rules of ours, failure to abide with these will end your holiday with us. Pool safety is very important to us, if you feel you cannot meet any of the above rules then please do not book with us. Pool opening times are 10am to 9.30pm. The pool is closed from 30th September to the 1st May, open sooner/longer weather permitting and at our discretion.
INCLUDED - Prices include gas and electricity for cooking, lighting, hot and cold water. Heating is included in the price for October through to May. Cots and high chairs are available, free of charge, on request. Prices include bed linen (pillowcases, duvet covers and mattress sheet), towels. Some dishwasher tablets and toilet rolls for example are provided to start you off, after these run out you will need to buy your own from the shops. All accommodation is self-catering.
CHANGEOVER – Changeover day is Saturday unless a flexible changeover date is booked as per our tariff page. Check-in time is 4pm, check-out time is 10am.
SMOKING - All accommodations and the pool enclosure are no smoking areas. If you do smoke outside the Gîte, please close the doors as the smell of smoke is very difficult to get rid of, this will affect your security deposit being refunded in full.
MOBILE PHONES - It is asked that mobile phones are used with the consideration of others (noise pollution).
LIMITATION - The rental of the accommodation, pool, play area, grounds, injury, theft, etc. is at your own risk. We will not be held responsible for Acts of God or occurrences outside of our control, nor will we pay for alternative accommodation if the need arises. Please take out the necessary travel insurance to cover these potential problems. The cost of the accommodation includes the accommodation and utilities only, it does not buy anyone the right to be impolite or disrespectful to the owners, other guests or property at anytime, such behaviour will result in your removal from the property with no refund. OCCUPANCY – The quantity of guests must not exceed the quantity it is designed for & paid for, for example the 6 berth Gite may only have 6 people staying or visiting the property. No visitors are allowed (guests not on the booking form) unless permission has been given in writing by “Escape to Charente” this same rule applies to all areas inside and out. We reserve the right to charge a visitors fee of 30€ per person per visit/day or part of, this is applied at our discretion.
MOTOR HOMES, CAMPING CARS ETC - Motor homes, camping cars etc are not allowed on our property without prior notice, if you would like to bring one please ask for an additional daily rate to the cost of your stay.
INTERNET – We provide free internet via wifi. We do not offer this as a guaranteed 100% uptime service, however in times of downtime we will do our best to resolve any problems. This service is provided for the use of checking emails and internet research of places to visit etc the bandwidth may not be capable of streaming on multiple devices. Please be aware our network stores information about it's users therefore if an illegal download takes place we have access to information which we will pass on to the necessary authorities if need be.
CANCELLATION – You may at anytime cancel your holiday with us, however no refunds are given. MISINTERPRETATION – Please contact us if you have any questions on any points within these terms as any misinterpretations can not be dealt with at a later stage.
OWNERS RIGHTS - The owners reserve the right to gain access to all accommodation / property in case of an emergency or for urgent repairs, non urgent repairs by agreeing a suitable time. Ground maintenance is carried out when necessary and with consideration. The owners reserve the right to update these terms at any-time.
A little about us – We are a three generation family, me – Kirsty, my husband and our two children currently aged 21 (girl) & 19 (boy) dated 2022 and my husbands parents. Since August 2008 we have successfully helped 100 plus families and counting to enjoy their annual family holiday with many re-booking year after year. We are very proud of our guest book and the wonderful entries our guests have left and we invite you to leave one of your own.
